About Solent Airport Daedalus

Steeped in history and building for the future, Solent Airport, formerly Daedalus airfield, welcomes visitors all year round to its beautiful coastal location overlooking the Solent and Isle of Wight...

Operated by Regional & City Airports, facilities at Solent Airport include newly CAA Licensed Aerodrome (April 2015) with a new runway surface (December 2014), aircraft refuelling, on-site engineering, hangarage, outdoor parking, along with flying tuition and flight experiences.

Whether you are flying into Solent Airport for business, leisure or to visit local businesses or one of the many local attractions, be assured that you will receive a very warm welcome from the RCA team.

Development opportunities and new businesses welcome.

Backed by its Enterprise Zone status, Daedalus is the largest employment site in the area and set to become the premier location for aviation, aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing businesses in the south. Workers on-site will benefit from an environment with a location close to the waterfront, proximity to the area's major road connections and, by 2018, public open space that includes picnic areas and walkways.

Enterprise Zone status brings numerous benefits including a significant package of transport infrastructure both on-site and for the surrounding road networks.

Located in a county of contrasts boasting miles of coastline, two major ports and an international airport, Hampshire benefits from impeccable connections in every sense of the word. Importantly, southern Hampshire has emerged as a key player in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Seven of the top ten global aerospace companies have already staked their claim in the Solent region and this brings with it employees with all the key skills but without the cost of London-weighted salaries.

Home to more than 25 marinas, a world-renowned University, the Southampton Boat Show and the Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire is a natural home for the marine sector and contains more than 3,000 marine and maritime companies.

Manufacturing is vital to the area and represents almost 13% of all jobs - that's 2% above the national average. There are over 14,000 manufacturing jobs in machine manufacturing and engineering activities.

Crucially Hampshire is also well-connected in terms of accessibility and travelling further afield. Daedalus lies approximately 70 miles and 90 minutes from London, and within easy reach of the South's principal motorways: M27, M3 and A3(M); Fareham train station lies four miles from the site.

What our clients say...

Absolutely fantastic service. Really wanted my delivery for Christmas and the extra effort Bournemouth Avionics went to to get this to me was way beyond they level of service expected. Pricing was also the best by far. Highly recommended.

Installed a new radio and I took the opportunity to a shuffle of the radio stack to make things a bit neater. They were very friendly and helpful with the project - and completed it on time, to the price quoted and without any problems.
